Xbox has finally released official details of a long-rumored handheld console.
Here’s what the company has officially announced about the gaming devices:
Xbox Ally
What we know:
Xbox announced over the weekend that, in partnership with Microsoft and ASUS, it is releasing two handheld Xbox consoles this holiday season:
- ROG Xbox Ally
- ROG Xbox Ally X
You can play games installed on your Xbox remotely with both devices.
What we don't know:
Microsoft hasn’t said yet the exact date the consoles will release, or what they’ll cost. Pre-order information also isn’t available yet, but gamers can sign up to be notified via email when Xbox has more info to share.
Xbox said the holiday launch will also only be in select markets, with a wider release to follow. The U.S. is included in the list of the tech company’s holiday 2025 release, but it wasn’t clear if that would be limited to certain cities.
What they're saying:
The consoles will both operate on Windows 11, combining "the power of Xbox with the freedom you expect from Windows," a press release said.
Dig deeper:
The higher-end model, Ally X, will have impulse triggers, more memory, storage and IO ports, and a stronger battery and processor.
