Aaron Rodgers to sign with Steelers: What we know

History of the NFL and how it became the world's richest sports league
The NFL was formed in 1920 when 10 football teams came together in Canton, Ohio, and started the American Professional Football Association (APFA), now known as the NFL.
Aaron Rodgers has informed the Pittsburgh Steelers that he plans to sign with the team, according to The Associated Press.
His decision put to rest months of speculation over whether he would end up in Pittsburgh.

What we know:
Rodgers, 41, will reportedly fly into Steel City Friday to sign a one-year deal ahead of mini-camp, nfl.com reports. Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, met with the Steelers in March and spent several hours there, but left without signing a deal.

What we don't know:
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed as of Thursday.
The backstory:
Rodgers hopes to author a happier ending to his Hall of Fame career after two seasons with the Jets. Pittsburgh is hoping Rodgers has enough left physically to go with a football IQ that remains elite. He was solid if not spectacular last season in New York, throwing for 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.
Justin Fields and Russell Wilson — who combined to lead the Steelers to a 10-7 record and a playoff berth last season — ended up in New York. Fields will replace Rodgers with the Jets after agreeing to a two-year deal. Wilson is heading to the Giants on a one-year contract.
What's next:
Rodgers will be attending the mandatory Steelers mini-camp next week, sources told the AP. R
